The 82nd Venice International Film Festival is in full swing, with its iconically photogenic red carpets, buzz-worthy film premieres, and cauldron of dealmaking. Hollywood stars Julia Roberts, Emma Stone, and George Clooney are all making appearances to promote their new projects.
Roberts stars in Luca Guadagnino’s psychological thriller AFTER THE HUNT, Stone in Yorgos Lanthimos’ sci-fi dark comedy BUGONIA, and Clooney stars with Adam Sandler in Noah Baumbach’s coming-of-age comedy JAY KELLY. A gaggle of top directors is also on site, including Kathryn Bigelow with her nuclear-weapon thriller A HOUSE OF DYNAMITE and Guillermo del Toro with his telling of FRANKENSTEIN.
Del Toro’s FRANKENSTEIN was an early festival favorite, with its August 30th premiere screening prompting a 13-minute standing ovation. This Netflix production will be introduced in select U.S. theaters on October 17th, before it becomes available to watch at home on Netflix starting November 7th.
