Plot Summary

Winter of the Crow is a Cold War thriller directed by Kasia Adamik from a screenplay by Sandra Buchta, adapted from Olga Tokarczuk's 1998 short story "Professor Andrews Goes to Warsaw".
Dr Joan Andrews (Lesley Manville), a British professor visiting Warsaw, is caught in the city when martial law is declared on 13 December 1981 and the country shuts down around her. After she witnesses the secret police, known as the Crows, murder a young student, she becomes a target herself and spends the film moving through Soviet-era Warsaw until she has no option but to stop and take a stand.
Tom Burke plays an ambassador, with Zofia Wichłacz and Andrzej Konopka in the cast. Olga Chajdas, Stanislaw Dziedzic, Katarzyna Ozga, Nicolas Steil and Sam Taylor produced for Wild Mouse Production, Film Produkcja and Iris Productions, with Tomasz Naumiuk on cinematography. A Poland, Luxembourg and United Kingdom co-production in English and Polish. The runtime is 112 minutes.
It premiered in the Platform programme at Toronto on 6 September 2025, closed the San Sebastián festival on 27 September 2025 and competed at Rome in October 2025, with Cohen Media Group opening it in the United States on 9 October 2026.
