The MIT Lecture Series Committee (LSC) is a long-standing, student-run organization that has brought quality entertainment to the MIT campus and broader community since 1944. Located in Room 26-100, LSC screens weekly films on a 26-foot-wide screen with advanced digital projection, 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound, and newly revived 35mm projection capabilities. Offering a varied mix of Hollywood blockbusters, classic cinema, foreign films, and independent productions, LSC is also known for its unique events such as science fiction marathons, sneak previews, and lectures by renowned speakers. With $5 general admission and open access to the public, the theater combines high-quality film experiences with affordability. Operated entirely by student volunteers, LSC provides opportunities to get involved in everything from projection and refreshments to publicity and event planning, making it not just a theater but a vibrant part of MIT’s cultural life.
