The Lyric Cinema in Spearman, Texas, is a charming and historic small-town cinema that has been a centerpiece of local entertainment since its establishment in the early 20th century. Located on Main Street, the theatre features a nostalgic, vintage feel, with a classic marquee sign and retro façade. Both local residents and visitors can come to The Lyric to experience the magic of cinema in an intimate, community-focused setting.
The original Lyric opened in 1923 and the current theater was built in 1948. In the early 1990s, the balcony was enclosed to create a second screening room with seating for 44 patrons. The main theater downstairs has 160 seats and a 40' wide screen. The theater offers traditional popcorn, candy and non-alcoholic drinks.
While it originally showed silent films and early Hollywood classics, the theatre has evolved over the years, screening both current films and family-friendly blockbusters. Its significance to the town extends beyond just movie screenings, as it often serves as a venue for special events, community gatherings, and local celebrations.
