The Crescent Theater is an intimate, single-screen independent movie theater located in the heart of downtown Mobile, Alabama, at 208 Dauphin Street—just one block west of Bienville Square. First opened in 1885 as a vaudeville venue, the theater has evolved into Mobile’s premier destination for independent, arthouse, and select mainstream films, as well as local theater productions and community events. Reopened in 2008 by owner Max Morey, the Crescent has become a cultural cornerstone, helping revitalize the downtown area. With amenities such as recliner seating in the front rows, stadium seating, mobile/online ticketing, beer and wine service, and wheelchair accessibility, the theater offers a cozy, elevated movie-going experience. Thanks to strong local backing and the support of the nonprofit Crescent Theater Film Society, the theater has remained a vital part of Mobile’s arts scene.
