Court Street Theatre (1216 Court Street, Saginaw, MI 48602) is a historic single-screen cinema built in 1938, featuring elegant Streamline Moderne architecture that adds a nostalgic charm to Saginaw’s Old Town neighborhood. After years of intermittent closure—most notably in the mid-1990s—it underwent extensive renovations beginning in 2016 and fully reopened in 2018. Updates included a refreshed exterior, refurbished marquee, revamped concession area, revamped interior wall coverings and lighting, a 30‑foot retractable screen, and state-of-the-art projection and sound systems.
Inside, the theatre accommodates around 594 seats, including a balcony that enhances its intimate yet nostalgic ambiance. Over the years, it has hosted an eclectic mix of programming—from first-run and film‑festival screenings to live concerts, comedy shows, and community fundraisers—becoming beloved for its warm atmosphere and accessibility.
Today, visitors praise Court Street Theatre for its cozy environment, excellent sound quality, comfortable seating, friendly staff, reasonable prices, and classic charm that stands in refreshing contrast to modern multiplexes.
