Taylor Swift is returning to the big screen! In a surprise announcement on Friday morning, Swift proclaimed an upcoming “theatrical event” arriving on October 3rd, the same day as the release of her latest album, “The Life of a Showgirl.” As with the breaking release of TAYLOR SWIFT: THE ERAS TOUR concert film in 2023, Swift’s new feature will also be distributed by AMC Theatres and Variance.
The same-day release of the album and big screen feature will be welcomed by exhibitors in the U.S. and 18 other countries, with Swift continuing to demonstrate her uniquely powerful appeal. While the new movie is not likely to generate the grosses of THE ERAS TOUR concert film, it did sell $15M in its first day of pre-sales availability and will balance out the range of October releases, which is heavily slanted towards R-rated horror titles.
