Three VHS tapes surface in a Florida storage unit. On them, episodes of a Los Angeles public access talk show, and a guest who says he is Jesus. He preaches, the audience mostly laughs, and the story goes where it was always going to go. A found footage drama about what a society does with a message it has heard before.

The Jesus Tapes is a 2026 American found footage drama written and directed by Rick Pamplin, who also appears as the on screen interviewer. Three VHS tapes discovered in a Florida storage unit bought at auction contain episodes of a Los Angeles public access talk show on which Pamplin's host interviews a man claiming to be Jesus, together with behind the scenes footage and news reports.
The man preaches peace and forgiveness, is largely ignored and ridiculed, and is ultimately beaten to death, leaving the film to pose what the following days hold. The Jesus character's dialogue is drawn from The Complete Sayings of Jesus Christ, published in 1927, and the actor playing him is deliberately uncredited under a nondisclosure agreement. Ellen Jacoby, Chris Whaley, Greg Hauptner and Louise Levison appear. Scott duPont and Maggie Pamplin produced with Howard Farling, for Pamplin Film Company with Think Visual Group and Nemours Marketing. Pamplin first conceived the project in 1977.
Atlas Distribution released it on 9 October 2026 across four US markets, running 81 minutes and unrated. For viewers interested in faith cinema made in an unusual register.
