Box Office: How is Scary Movie projected to perform?
Fun Facts
The Wayans brothers returned because of their father's dying wish — and the Weinsteins' downfall. Marlon Wayans cited two key reasons for ending the family's 17-year exile from the franchise: the downfall of producers Bob and Harvey Weinstein (with whom they'd had creative conflicts), and encouragement from their father, Howell Stouten Wayans, shortly before his death in 2023. Marlon later said he "promised him I would make this happen."
They had to do emergency reshoots in April 2026 to parody films that hadn't come out yet. Principal photography wrapped in November 2025, but because the film targets ultra-current horror, the crew returned to set in April 2026 to shoot parodies of Sinners, Weapons, and Michael — movies that premiered after the main shoot had already ended.
A Terrifier 3 parody scene was cut for being too extreme, then reinstated. The sequence depicting Art the Clown blowing up a mall with children inside was initially removed for content reasons, but was later put back into the film in a trimmed-down edit after pushback.
Its release was moved UP a week because of a viral Instagram post. Originally scheduled for June 12, 2026, Paramount bumped the film forward to June 5 after Marlon Wayans posted the teaser trailer on Instagram and the response was so overwhelmingly positive that the studio accelerated the release to capitalize on the momentum.
