Ray Mendoza is a former Navy SEAL who has developed a filmmaking career as a military advisor, producer, and director. Mendoza began his feature film production career as a military advisor on the theatrical features Act of Valor (2012), co-starring Alex Vado, Roselyn Sanchez, and Nestor Serrano under the co-direction of Mike McCoy and Scott Waugh.

Mendoza made his feature debut as co-director/co-writer (with Alex Garland) of the war movie, Warfare (2025), based on Mendoza’s experiences as a U.S. Navy SEAL in the Iraq War and starring D’Pharoah Woon-A-Tai and Will Poulter, and released wide by A24.
Ray Mendoza was born and raised in the U.S. by his parents. Mendoza enlisted in the Navy in 1997, serving for nearly 17 years as a member of SEAL Team 5 and as a Land Warfare Training Detachment and BUD/s instructor.
