Maddie Hasson (birthname: Madelaine Hasson) was a dancer and stage actor before she made her feature acting debut in director/writer Bobcat Goldthwaite’s action movie, God Bless America (2011), with Joel Murray, Tara Lynne Barr, Mackenzie Brooke Smith, and Melinda Page Hamilton, launching at the Toronto Film Festival before a release by Magnolia Pictures. Hasson joined the cast as a high school cheerleader in director/producer Doug Dearth’s football movie, Underdogs (2013), with Alex Keener, D.B. Sweeney, William Mapother, Melora Walters, Jay Thomas, Natalie Imbruglia, and Joe Namath, distributed by Freestyle Releasing.

Hasson portrayed Hank Williams’s second wife and widow in the Hank Williams biopic, I Saw the Light (2015), starring Tom Hiddleston (as Hank), Elizabeth Olsen, Cherry Jon, and Bradley Whitford, and which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival before a disappointing release by Sony Pictures Classics. Hasson co-starred in director/executive producer Valerie Weiss’s indie family drama, A Light Beneath Their Feet (2015), co-starring Madison Davenport and Taryn Manning, and then Hasson starred in director/writer/producer Anne-Marie Hass’s coming-of-age teen drama, Good After Bad (2017), with Billy Burke, Dabier, Melora Walters, and which was produced by Accelerated Matter/Attic Light Films/Warrior Poets.

Maddie Hasson then joined the distinguished cast of director/writer Maggie Betts’s nun drama, Novitiate (2017), starring Margaret Qualley, Melissa Leo, Julianne Nicholson, and Morgan Saylor, launching at the Sundance Film Festival before a limited release by Sony Pictures Classics. Hasson co-starred with Annabelle Wallis in director/story writer/producer James Wan’s horror movie, Malignant (2021), with George Young, Jacqueline McKenzie, McKenna Grace, and Michole Briana White, produced by New Line Cinema/Atomic Monster and released by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Hasson topped the cast, with Machine Gun Kelly (who co-wrote), of director/co-writer Tim Sutton’s drama, Taurus (2022), co-starring Scoot McNairy and Megan Fox, with a competitive premiere in the Berlin Film Festival before a U.S. release by RLJE Films, and then Hasson joined Anthony Mackie (who also produced) and Morena Baccarin in director/producer George Nolfi’s post-apocalyptic thriller, Elevation (2024), produced by Lyrical Media/Grinder Monkey/John Glenn Entertainment and released by Vertical. Hasson co-starred with Marco Pigossi, Alex Roe, and Andra Nechita under Mercedes Bryce Morgan’s direction in the indie horror movie, Bone Lake (2024), backed by LD Entertainment and distributed widely in 2025 by Bleecker Street.

Maddie Hasson continued in the horror vein in the Canadian production directed and co-written by Connor Marsden, Violence (2025), with Rohan Campbell, Greg Bryk, and Sarah Grey.
