Curry Barker (birthname: Curry D. Barker) may have dropped out of film school but went on to make nearly a dozen short films and feature films, starting with the $800-budgeted found footage horror comedy, Mike & Serial (2024), on which Barker was director/writer/editor/composer as well as a co-lead, co-producer and co-cinematographer with his “that’s a bad idea” comedy partner Cooper Tomlinson and which premiered on YouTube to rave reviews and went viral, landing Barker an agent. Barker made his theatrical debut as director/writer/editor of the supernatural horror movie, Obsession (2025), starring Michael Johnston, Inde Navarrette, Tomlinson, and Andy Richter, launching in the Toronto Film Festival’s Midnight Madness section and released wide by Focus Features.
Barker was director as well as fellow producer and co-star with partner Cooper Tomlinson of the supernatural horror movie about fake paranormal investigators encountering actual ghosts, Anything but Ghosts (date to be announced), produced in part by Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions and Image Nation Abu Dhabi, co-starring Aaron Paul, and which was released by Focus Features (U.S.)/Universal Pictures (International).
Curry Barker was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, by his parents. Barker studied filmmaking at the New York Film Academy but dropped out to pursue his professional career. Barker lives in Burbank, California. Barker’s height is 5’ 7”.
