The Garden Theatre in Louisa, Kentucky, is a historic, beautifully restored entertainment venue and a central cultural hub for the community. Originally opened on New Year’s Eve, 1921, the theater was a vital part of the community, showing moving pictures and hosting live performances until it closed in 1957.
After years of disuse and disrepair, the building was purchased in 2007 and thoroughly refurbished, reopening in 2019 to resume its original purpose. The Mountain Movers Theatre Company (MOMO) now calls the Garden Theatre home, producing a year-round offering of events, including professional, community, and children’s theatre productions. The venue also hosts film screenings, various local events, and is available to rent for private functions.
