Birmingham 8 is a storied eight‑screen movie theater situated in the heart of downtown Birmingham, Michigan. Originally opened in 1927 in a striking French‑Renaissance style designed by Rapp & Rapp, the venue was transformed into a modern multiplex in 1996, while preserving much of its architectural heritage. In 2021, the theater was acquired by Emagine Entertainment and reopened as “Birmingham 8, Powered by Emagine.” The historic marquee remains unchanged, maintaining its landmark status, while the interior was upgraded with luxury reclining seating, reserved and stadium-style viewing, enhanced projection and sound systems, and even a liquor license for select screenings. Patrons enjoy an elevated cinema experience, complete with craft beer and cocktails, self-serve Coca‑Cola Freestyle machines, gourmet and health-conscious popcorn options, and a rich mix of first-run and art-house films. With a seating capacity around 1,250 across eight screens, the theater bridges century-old charm with contemporary comfort
