Bel‑Air Luxury Cinema, located at 10100 East 8 Mile Road in Detroit, MI, is the city’s only remaining first-run movie theater, standing on the historic site of the former Bel‑Air Drive‑In (1950–1986). Originally opened by AMC in 1988, it was refurbished and reopened in 2001 by Phoenix Theatres, before transitioning to independent management in 2009. It features 10 digital screens with roughly 2,100 seats, and a standout auditorium equipped with one of only two eight-channel SDDS Sony digital sound systems in the Detroit area . A full-scale 2016 renovation added luxurious high-back rockers and reclining seats, glittery décor, a custom chandelier, and upgraded concessions with fresh popcorn, pizza, and more — all while maintaining affordable ticket prices.
