The Avalon Theatre, located at 98 1st Street South in Souris, Manitoba, is a historic single-screen cinema that has been entertaining the community since its opening in 1929. Constructed by local contractor Daniel Kitchen, the theater has undergone various ownerships over the decades, including operators like Harry Baldwin and later Henry and Toni Schol. In the early 1960s, it was taken over by Henry and Toni Schol. Subsequent owners included Wayne and Jeannie Waterman (1972-1982), Brian Gerow (1982-1992), and Brad Lindbloom (1992-1994). In 1994, it was taken over by the Town of Souris as a community initiative. Today, the Avalon Theatre continues to serve as a cultural hub for the community, showcasing first-run films on weekends. The theater has a seating capacity of 275, providing an intimate and nostalgic movie-going experience.
