The Astor Theatre, located at 219 Main Street in Liverpool, Nova Scotia, is a historic cultural landmark with a rich heritage. Originally built in 1902 as part of the town hall and known as the Liverpool Opera House, it began showcasing silent films in 1917. In 1930, with the advent of talking pictures, the venue was renamed the Astor Theatre after Seth Bartling Sr.’s favorite theater in New York. Today, the Astor Theatre continues to serve as a vibrant hub for the arts, offering a diverse array of live performances, concerts, and current films. The theater is part of the Town Hall Arts and Cultural Centre (THACC), which also houses a gallery, meeting space, and volunteer office. The THACC is located at the front of the building that houses the Astor Theatre.
