4,000 seats. Twenty screens. Loews Cineplex built it. AMC opened it. The merger closed in January 2006, before the building was done. November 17, 2006. State Farm Stadium had just taken its first Cardinals season. The western edge of Glendale was already busy.
Theatre Overview
4,000 seats on opening day. That number put the Westgate 20 at the large end of Arizona multiplex openings in 2006, and the Experience Glendale tourism listing still flags it as the state’s largest AMC location. Loews Cineplex built the building. AMC absorbed Loews in January 2006 and inherited the project before it was done. Opening night on November 17, 2006, carried AMC branding. Loews never ran a single showtime here.
The location was deliberate.
Phase I of the Westgate Entertainment District opened the same day the theatre did. Desert Diamond Arena had been running NHL crowds to the western edge of Glendale since 2003, and State Farm Stadium had just taken its first Arizona Cardinals season. The theatre landed in a block already drawing 22 million visitors a year. Dolby Cinema came post-opening. Recliners, Dolby Vision, Atmos. One auditorium. The other 19 screens run the original fixed stadium chairs.
Screens & Presentation
Two premium formats. Neither is the other.
IMAX uses laser projection with a purpose-built speaker system. Dolby Cinema runs Dolby Vision on a curved screen with Atmos audio and recliner seating. They are not interchangeable. Guests expecting one format who book the other notice the difference immediately.
All-digital throughout. No film.
RealD 3D is available across several auditoriums, depending on the title. Dolby Atmos is not restricted to the Dolby Cinema room; standard screens in the building carry Atmos arrays. The 20-screen volume means most major releases run simultaneously across several auditoriums at different times.

Seating & Auditorium Features
Most guests expecting a full recliner building leave the Dolby Cinema auditorium thinking they picked the wrong screen. The other 19 auditoriums use the original fixed stadium chairs from 2006, closer together than guests used to newer AMC locations tend to expect.

Tuesdays and Wednesdays both run with reduced ticket prices at AMC Westgate 20. Most competing multiplexes in the Phoenix area offer a single Tuesday discount. Add daily matinee pricing before 4 pm, and there are four separate windows per week where tickets are cheaper than evening weekend rates.

Spanish-language showings are available. The volume of auditoriums means major releases play across several screens simultaneously on peak weekends, which keeps individual showtimes from selling out as quickly as at smaller venues. AMC A-List covers three films per week, including IMAX and Dolby Cinema. AMC Stubs earns points per visit.

Concessions
No table service. No waiter. Counter and mobile ordering only. MacGuffins bar is on-site: beer, wine, and cocktails for guests 21 and over with ID. Not a beer-and-wine shelf. a full bar. The standard AMC concessions run alongside it: Coca-Cola Freestyle, AMC Perfectly Popcorn, pretzel bites, hot food, candy.
No outside food or beverage permitted.
Mobile ordering through the AMC app places food and drink orders before the showtime, with pickup from a separate window. Uber Eats delivery of AMC concession items is also available for guests ordering from outside the building.

State Farm Stadium: directly adjacent. Desert Diamond Arena: across WaterDance Plaza. The theatre is inside the Westgate Entertainment District, which sits at the Glendale Avenue exit off Loop 101. From central Phoenix, about 20 miles west. The complex is visible from the freeway on approach.
Parking in Westgate surface lots is free. Westgate Circulator runs on event days.
