Welcome to Alamo Drafthouse Downtown Brooklyn. Located at 445 Albee Square West inside City Point, Alamo Drafthouse Downtown Brooklyn isn’t your average movie theater in Downtown Brooklyn—it’s where serious film fans go to shut out the noise, sink into a recliner, and watch movies the way they were meant to be seen. With 12 auditoriums (expanded from 7 after a 2024 renovation), full food and drink service, and a zero-tolerance policy for talking and texting, this is one of the borough’s most immersive movie experiences.
When it first opened in 2016, the Brooklyn Drafthouse brought the Texas-based chain’s cult following to NYC. But in 2024, it leveled up: five new screens, upgraded seating, and a reintroduction as the Spike Lee Cinema—a tribute to the borough’s storytelling legacy and the theater’s community ties. Now with 12 screens, a full bar (House of Wax), and some of the city’s best movie programming, Alamo Drafthouse Downtown Brooklyn is a destination, not just a stop.
From the moment you take the elevator up from City Point’s food court, you’re in a different kind of cinema. The lobby is low-lit and artfully weird. The bar looks like a museum. Once you’re seated, the service is discreet, the screen is sharp, and the trailers are often curated deep cuts. This is a movie theater in Downtown Brooklyn that feels like a club for people who still treat movies like an art form.
