Queen Live in Budapest is a 2026 cinema and IMAX release of the concert film shot at Budapest's Népstadion on 27 July 1986, directed by János Zsombolyai. The performance came during The Magic Tour, the band's final tour with Freddie Mercury, and Queen were the first Western rock band to play a stadium behind the Iron Curtain, with Mercury joined by Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon.
The set runs the material the tour was built on and closes out through "Bohemian Rhapsody", "We Will Rock You" and "God Save the Queen". Park Road Post Production, Peter Jackson's facility in New Zealand, restored the footage in 4K from the original 35mm elements, which the National Film Institute FilmLab in Budapest digitised from negatives the NFI Film Archive has held since 1986. Queen's own studio team remixed the audio from the original multitrack recordings.
Trafalgar Releasing, with Sony Music Vision, put it in cinemas and IMAX worldwide on 7 October 2026, following a world premiere at the Budapest Classics Film Marathon on 15 September and a London premiere on 30 September. Home formats follow on 30 October.
For Queen audiences and for anyone who wants the Mercury-era live act at cinema scale.
