Plot Summary
- The dead body of a powerful businesswoman named Maya Verma (Sobhita Dhulipala), who died because of having a heart attack, disappeared from the Mauritius morgue before the autopsy. SP Jairaj Rawal (Rishi Kapoor) calls in Maya's husband, Ajay Puri (Emraan Hashmi), for investigation. Morgue's security guard (Tara Singh) tells Jairaj that the corpse got up and walked away. He is convinced it is a paranormal activity. The CCTV cameras are not working in the morgue and computer hard disk (which had the recording of the working cameras) has been stolen as well. Maya had returned to Mauritius just that day after a business meeting in LA. She died at 4 30 pm. Dr. Tanya Mehra (Rukhsar Rehman) had declared Maya dead from a heart attack, when she was brought in.Ajay Puri, who is the owner of a lab and worked under Maya's company seemed to have committed something wrong along with his girlfriend Ritu (Vedhika). Jairaj thinks that the only motive for someone to steal the body is to prevent the autopsy. He believes that the heart attack was induced and an autopsy would have revealed that. Pawan Sinha (Anupam Bhattacharya) is Jairaj's assistant and junior officer.Jairaj suspects Ajay and makes him stay in the morgue until Maya's corpse is found. He opines that Ajay lost his wife and not even a little emotional. Strange incidents start to happen with Ajay. He feels Maya's presence around him and gradually gets clues including the bottle of Cardiotoxin (TH-16) which he had used to induce a heart attack in Maya's body. Jairaj finds Ajay near the evidence locker and searches him and finds the bottle on TH-16 on his body. Ajay claims that the bottle was on the ground and he simply picked it up. Maya's cellphone is missing from the evidence locker. He also gets a phone in another corpse's (which belongs to Tony D'Costa) bag having the calls only from Maya. Jaya calls the number back and it is picked by a waitress from a restaurant that Maya and Ajay used to frequent regularly. The waitress says that a man named Tony is coming over to pick the phone. Ajay is confused since Tony's body is lying in front of him. All these events make him believe that Maya is still alive and is playing a game with him to take her revenge. Throughout this ordeal Ajay is in touch with Ritu over the phone and shares constant updates with her and seeks her counsel. Ajay asks Ritu to figure out who Tony is, by picking Maya's phone from the restaurant.Jairaj keeps finding Ajay in compromising situation across the morgue and his suspicion on Ajay only grows. Jairaj gets the bottle of TH-16 analyzed and finds that it contained Cardiotoxin which can induce a heart attack within 8 hrs. He is convinced now that Ajay had a hand in Maya's murder. Jairaj tells Ajay that Maya had hired a private detective named Tony to keep an eye on Ajay. She had also changed the marriage contract between her and Ajay. Ajay insists that Tony is dead, but when he takes Jairaj back into the body room, Tony's tag is not there to be found.In a flashback, it is shown that Maya always used to dominate Ajay with her money and power. For example Just before the wedding Maya refuses to marry Ajay saying that he is only marrying her for her money, and then laughs it off as a big joke to make the day memorable. she would also constantly undermine Ajay's decisions at work and berate him in front of junior staff. Ajay's possessiveness and his affair with Ritu made him kill Maya and made it look like a heart attack by using a Cardiotoxin which takes about 8 hours to work. In the morgue, Ajay continuously keeps contact with Ritu and they find out that Maya knew about their relationship by hiring a private detective named Tony D'Costa. Ritu finds a blank envelope outside her apartment. The Envelope had a pen drive which had photos of Ajay and Ritu together.Ajay tells Ritu to run away to a safe place as he feels that Maya is after her. But suddenly Ritu goes offline. When Ajay fails to contact Ritu, he confesses everything to Jairaj out of fear and requests him to save Ritu from Maya. In the meantime, Jairaj gets a call from his team that they have found a female corpse which is revealed to be Maya's. When Jairaj orders the police to arrest Ajay, he tries to run away but falls down due to chest-pain.Finally, it is revealed that Ritu is none other than Jairaj's daughter Isha. Everything that has happened to Maya and Ajay since the last night was their plan. Yet again, in a flashback, it is revealed that Jairaj's wife Nancy, who died in a car accident was hit by a drunk Maya and Ajay and instead of helping them, they return to the crime scene and hit the car again as Ajay had noticed that the little girl sitting on back seat has seen them. But by that time Jairaj had rescued himself and the little girl out of the car and was going back to rescue Nancy who was still strapped to her seat. After 10 years, when Isha recognizes Ajay and Maya in her university, she plans a revenge along with her father. Isha attracts Ajay towards her and starts an affair.At the end, Jairaj discloses to Ajay that he is going to have a heart attack from Cardiotoxin, which he had used to kill Maya, which Ritu (Isha) had mixed in his drink 8 hours ago.
