Imagine Cinemas is the largest independent Canadian-owned theatre chain. Their flagship movie theatre, Lakeshore Cinemas, opened in Tecumseh, Ontario in May 2005. The chain currently consists of 11 locations, including seven formerly owned Rainbow Cinemas theatres, which were added on May 27, 2016, followed by the Gem Theatre in Keswick, Ontario, acquired on October 30, 2019. Many of their theatres have been upgraded to include luxury, electronic recliners for a price of $14 or under.
The privately held corporation—owned by a couple of families in the Lakeshore, Ontario area—has a total of 66 screens in Ontario, making it the third-largest movie theatre chain in Canada outside of Quebec.
