Western Film Services is led by Joe Garel, a fourth-generation film professional with roots in both exhibition and distribution dating back to the nickelodeon era. Film is not just his career, but his family legacy.
A Los Angeles native, Joe built his career in theatrical distribution at major studios, where he developed a strong understanding of how films are positioned, negotiated, and released across varied markets. He later spent several years booking for a Top 10 theatrical circuit, overseeing programming across diverse and competitive regions and strengthening its national standing.
Today, Joe brings that combined studio and circuit perspective to independent theaters and distribution partners, providing insightful strategy and informed negotiation.
He is supported by his wife, Rachael Garel, who oversees marketing and operational administration, and a wide network of industry partners and contacts.
Western Film Services works with independent cinemas ranging from single-screen operators to multi-location circuits in competitive regional markets. We represent exhibitors seeking dynamic, strategic film booking grounded in real market experience. We work hands-on with theater owners each week, collaborating directly on programming decisions, reviewing performance, and shaping calendars that reflect the realities of their specific markets.
