A triple threat as an actor, singer, and dancer and best known as the co-star of Disney’s Peter Pan series, The Descendants, as well as HBO Max’s reboot of Gossip Girl, Thomas Doherty is the co-star of Jessica Thompson’s Gothic drama, The Invitation (2022), with Natalie Emmanuel and Stephanie Corneliussen.
Doherty was the star in his debut feature film, co-writer/director Michael Damian’s New York-set dance drama, High Strung Free Dance (2018), with Harry Jarvis, Juliet Doherty, and Jane Seymour. Doherty’s third feature is director Roxanne Benjamin’s Fall Into Darkness (date to be announced), the English-language remake of the 2014 Spanish film, La Cueva, and so-starring Lorena Izzo and Nell Tiger Free.
Born and raised in Edinburgh, Scotland, Thomas Doherty is the middle sibling in his family, with a younger sister, Rachel, an older brother, Niall, and parents—father Anthony and mother Mary-Lou Doherty–working in the Scottish banking industry. Doherty began performing on stage at the young age of five and became a member of the Lothian Youth Arts and Musicals Company.
Doherty attended and graduated from Edinburgh’s Royal High School. Post-high school, Doherty pursued studies in musical theater at the MGA Academy of Performing Arts in Edinburgh, graduating in 2015. Doherty was in a relationship with actor/singer Dove Cameron from 2016 to 2020; he has been in a relationship with Dutch actor Yasmin Wijnaldum since 2021. His height is 6’.
