McQuoid was director/producer of the reboot, Mortal Kombat (2021), the third movie in the franchise, backed by lead producer James Wan, co-starring Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, and Hiroyuki Sanada, and which earned $84.4 million for producers New Line Cinema/Atomic Monster and distributor Warner Bros. Pictures.
McQuoid was director/producer of the immediate sequel, Mortal Kombat II (2026), written by Jeremy Slater, with James Wan, Todd Garner, Toby Emmerich, and E. Bennett Walsh as additional producers via New Line Cinema/Atomic Monster/Broken Road Productions/Fireside Films, and which was released wide by Warner
Simon McQuoid was born and raised in Perth, Australia, by his parents. McQuoid attended and graduated from Lesmurdie Senior High School. McQuoid majored in Graphic Design at Perth Technical College.
