Shamon Brown Jr. is a rising young actor best known as “Papa” on Showtime’s long-running series, The Chi. Brown began his acting career at age five, performing in Chicago theater productions. After appearing in commercials, music videos, and voice-over work, Brown landed a guest-starring role in the NBC series, Chicago Fire. In 2018, Brown was cast by creator Lena Waithe in The Chi (2018-2023), in which he has appeared in nearly 50 episodes.
Brown had his big-screen debut in the co-lead voice role of Michelangelo in Nickelodeon Animation Studios’ reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023), with Brown co-starring with fellow Turtles, Micah Abbey (Donatello), Nicolas Cantu (Leonardo), Brady Noon (Raphael), and Ayo Edebiri, Maya Rudolph, John Cena, and Seth Rogen.
Shamon Brown Jr. was born and raised in Chicago by his parents.
