Debuting as a professional actor at age nine, Cantu had his debut big-screen credit at age sixteen in writer-director Tenney Fairchild’s high school comedy, Vikes (2017), co-starring Aidan Alexander, Sydney Sweeney, Noah Munck, and Miguel A. Nunez Jr..

For Cantu’s next movie role, he was cast by Steven Spielberg in a supporting role in The Fabelmans (2022), with Michelle Williams, Gabriel LaBelle, Paul Dano, Judd Hirsch, and Seth Rogen, scoring seven Oscar nominations but losing money for Universal/Amblin with a poor $45.6 million global gross.
