Ella Rubin is a New York-based actor in features, television and the stage whose debut in the movies was a supporting role in the U.S. rom-com, The Rewrite (2014), starring Hugh Grant and Marisa Tomei, with Bella Heathcote, J.K. Simmons, Chris Elliott and Allison Janney under writer Marc Lawrence’s direction, and released by RLJ Entertainment to poor $4.5 million box office (on $29 million costs).
Rubin was cast in a supporting role in director/cinematographer Sean Price Williams’s wild road movie, The Sweet East (2023), written by Nick Pinkerton, and co-starring Talia Ryder, Earl Cave, Simon Rex, Ayo Edebiri, Jeremy O. Harris, Jacob Elordi and Rish Shah, and released by Utopia after premiering at the Cannes Film Festival.
Rubin played star and Best Actress Oscar winner Mikey Madison’s roommate in director/writer/producer Sean Baker’s acclaimed comedy-drama, Anora (2024), co-starring Mark Eydelshteyn, Yura Borisov, Karren Karagulian, Vache Tovmasyan, Darya Ekamasova and Aleksei Serebryakov, released by Neon to a potent $56.6 million (against $6 million costs) and scoring an exceptionally rare coup of winning both the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival and five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Director, Screenplay, Actress and Editing.
Rubin landed her first co-starring role in the Screen Gems-backed live-action adaptation of the PlayStation game, Until Dawn (2025), with Michael Cimino, Odessa A’zion, Ji-young Yoo, and Peter Stormare under producer David F. Sandberg’s direction, and released wide by Sony Pictures Releasing.
Ella Rubin was born and raised in Manhattan in New York City, by her mother (talent manager) and father Ron Rubin (insurance company CEO). Rubin has one sister, Jodi Kipperman (casting director). Rubin studied theater and acting at the Professional Children’s School. Rubin’s height is 5’ 4½ ”.
