David Jonsson (birthname: David Jonsson Fray) is a rising and acclaimed British actor who made his screen debut in the lead role of the U.K. rom-com, Rye Lane (2023), co-starring Vivian Oparah under debuting Raine Allen-Miller’s direction, co-written by Nathan Bryon and Tom Melia, partly produced by BFI and BBC Film, and released by Searchlight Pictures/Disney (grossing $1.5 million) after premiering at the Sundance Film Festival.
Jonsson jumped into the Hollywood studio big leagues as a co-lead (playing android Andy) in director/co-writer Fede Alvarez’s sequel in 20th Century Studios’ Alien franchise, Alien: Romulus (2024), with Cailee Spaeny, Archie Renaux and Isabela Merced, and grossing $351 million worldwide; Jonsson returned in the follow-up feature again directed and co-written by Alvarez and co-starring Fede Alvarez, Alien: Romulus 2 (date to be announced).

Jonsson co-starred in his second major Hollywood-backed movie, director/producer Francis Lawrence’s long-awaited version of Stephen King’s 1979 dystopian horror novel, The Long Walk (2025), starring Cooper Hoffman, Garrett Wareing, Joshua Odjick, Tut Nyuot, Charlie Plummer, Ben Wang, Judy Greer and Mark Hamill, produced by Vertigo Entertainment and released wide by Lionsgate.
David Jonsson co-starred with Tom Blyth in the British prison thriller, Wasteman (date to be announced), with Alex Hassell and Neil Linpow under Cal McMau’s direction, produced by Bankside Films and released by Lionsgate. Jonsson co-starred with Taylor Russell in the feature provisionally titled Untitled Frank Ocean Project (date to be announced), directed and written by Frank Ocean in his feature filmmaking debut. Then Jonsson portrayed Sammy Davis Jr. in Scandalous! David Jonsson was born and raised in East London by his father (IT engineer) and mother (a member of London’s Metropolitan Police). Jonsson has two older sisters and one older brother. Jonsson completed his (U.K.) After attending school, Jonsson moved to New York City, where he spent two years. He then joined the National Youth Theatre and received a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, from which he graduated with a B.A. in Acting in 2016. Jonsson’s height is 5’ 9”.
