Andrew Koji (birthname: Andrew Julian Hiroaki Koji ) is a British actor of Japanese and English heritage who has trained in both martial arts and in the British theater (Royal Shakespeare Company, Royal Court Theatre, Charing Cross Theatre, Hampstead Theatre, Regents Park Open Air Theatre), and made his big-screen debut in FB: Fighting Beat (2007), followed by a role in Yukihiko Tsutsumi’s Japanese sequel, 20th Century Boys 2: The Last Hope (2009), and then The Missing Day (2011), followed by his first Hollywood appearance as stunt double for actor Sung Kang in Fast & Furious 6 (2013) and small roles in several other movies released that year, including Scrutiny, A Situation, #aiww: The Arrest of Ai Weiwei and the short film in which he starred, wrote and produced, Above the Waist. Koji then appeared in roles in director/writer Liviu Tipurita’s British drama, Luck (2015) and in director/writer/producer Louis Lagayette’s East London-set thriller, Trendy (2017).
Koji made his biggest appearance to date in a major supporting role in the origin story movie of Hasbro’s G.I. Joe character, Snake Eyes (2021), starring Henry Golding, Ursula Corbero, Samara Weaving and Iko Uwais under Robert Schwentke’s direction, but was a commercial failure for producers Paramount Pictures (which also distributed), MGM, Skydance Media, Entertainment One Films and di Bonaventura Pictures. Koji was one of the few Japanese ethnic actors in the (controversially) mostly non-Japanese cast of director/producer David Leitch’s action comedy, Bullet Train (2022), based on Kotaro Isaka’s 2010 novel, starring the international ensemble of Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock, Joey King, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, Hiroyuki Sanada, Michael Shannon and Benito A. Martinez Ocasio (aka Bad Bunny), produced (in part) by Antoine Fuqua, and which grossed three times estimated costs for $239 million for Sony Pictures Releasing and lead producer Columbia Pictures.
Andrew Koji appeared in another colorful ensemble and reunited with director/co-writer Robert Schwentke for the darkly comedic historical movie starring John Malkovich in the starring role, Seneca—On the Creation of Earthquakes (2023), co-written by Matthew Wilder, with Louis Hofmann, Geraldine Chaplin, Julian Sands, Tom Xander, Lilith Stangenberg and Mary-Louise Parker, produced (in part) by Filmgalerie 451 and Arte and released by Freestyle (U.S.)/Weltkino Film Distribution (Germany). Koji then joined the cast of debuting director/co-writer Moritz Mohr’s dystopian action comedy, Boy Kills World (2023), based on Mohr’s and co-writer Arend Remmers’ short film of the same title, starring Bill Skarsgard, Jessica Rothe, Michelle Dockery, Brett Gelman, Isaiah Mustafa, Yayan Ruhian, Sharlto Copley and Famke Janssen, produced (in part) by Sam Raimi, launching at the Toronto Film Festival and distributed by Lionsgate Films and Roadside Attractions (U.S.)/Constantin Film (Germany)/Empire Entertainment (South Africa).
Koji co-starred in the Warner Bros. Pictures-released Vegas heist comedy, Double Trouble (2026), with Violet McGraw, Madeleine McGraw and Jack Griffo under Shaun Piccinino’s direction, and produced by ESX Entertainment, and then Koji starred in director/co-writer Kitao Sakurai’s Capcom-based video game, Street Fighter (2026), co-starring Noah Centineo, with Callina Liang, David Dastmalchian, Eric Andre, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Jason Momoa (who was also a producer), produced by Capcom and Legendary Pictures and released wide by Paramount Pictures.
