Kevin Sorbo (birthname: Kevin David Sorbo) made his name as Hercules in a series of Universal Television-produced TV movies and then acted in his first feature film, the thriller Slaughter of the Innocents (1993), with Scott Glenn and Darlanne Fluegel written and directed by James Glickenhaus. Sorbo starred in the title role of the John Nicolella-directed fantasy for Universal Pictures, Kull the Conqueror (1997), with Tia Carrere, Harvey Fierstein, and Karina Lombard, delivering disastrous box office ($6 million gross against $35 million costs).
Sorbo starred in a string of direct-to-video movies (including a Walking Tall series) before joining the cast for the lampoon movie, Meet the Spartans (2008), co-starring Sean Maguire, Carmen Electra, and Ken Davitian, co-directed and co-written by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, and proving a financial success for 20th Century Fox with $84 million returns and savaging reviews.

Kevin Sorbo joined the cast of the much-delayed Sean McNamara-directed biopic, Reagan (2024), starring Dennis Quaid, Penelope Ann Miller, Robert Davi, Lesley-Anne Down, Jon Voight, Mena Suvari, Kevin Dillon, Jon Voight, and Dan Lauria, filmed in 2020 but delayed until ShowBiz Direct’s 2024 release.
