West Newton Cinema, a historic gem in West Newton, MA, has been a cherished part of the community since 1937, offering a varied mix of mainstream, independent, foreign, and classic films in a charming Art Deco setting. Saved from demolition in 2024 through the efforts of local residents and the newly formed nonprofit West Newton Cinema Foundation (WNCF), the theater is now fully operational and dedicated to revitalization. With six screens and a commitment to accessibility—including infrared audio and captioning systems, wheelchair access, and descriptive audio—the Cinema strives to create a wonderful experience for all moviegoers. WNCF’s mission is to preserve the theater’s legacy while transforming it into a vibrant, community-centered hub for film lovers of all ages. In addition to its regular programming, the Cinema offers private rentals for screenings, gaming, and independent film showcases. Memberships and donations help sustain this beloved institution, ensuring that West Newton Cinema continues to be a cultural cornerstone for generations to come.
