The Goldsmith Family Cinema is a 412-seat cinema located in the Jeanine Basinger Center for Film Studies at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. The cinema is equipped with projectors that can screen 35mm, 16mm, DCP, and various video formats. The center also includes the Powell Family Cinema, a seminar room, the Bay Production Wing, the Whedon Mezzanine, the Rick Nicita Gallery, and the Ogden and Mary Louise Reid Cinema Archives.
The center has state-of-the-art screening facilities with over 37 years of experience in running a film series, and a nationally recognized faculty who have first-hand knowledge of domestic and foreign cinema. The Jeanine Basinger Center for Film Studies has been in development since 2000 and has been completed in three phases. The third and final phase was completed in 2021 and includes a state-of-the-art production studio, a cyclorama and green screen, a 50-seat screening room, additional indoor and outdoor classroom spaces, a three-story house dedicated to on-site film shooting, and increased archival research space.
