The Coligny Theatre first opened its doors in 1972 as The Island Theater. It was Hilton Head Island’s only theater for many years. The original theater closed its doors in late 1997, but was renovated and reopened in 2002 by the local property owner of Coligny Plaza. The renovated theater was renamed Coligny Theatre as an “art house” focusing on independent films and an upscale, mature audience.
