Woolpert, the theater opened its doors on May 15, 1940, with a seating capacity of 678. Initially intended to serve as a 24-hour entertainment venue for aircraft workers, it has evolved over the decades into a cherished cultural landmark. In 2005, the American Cinematheque undertook a significant renovation, reducing the seating to 425 to enhance comfort while preserving its historic essence.
