Black Bear is a full-scale independent studio with a bespoke management arm, focused on producing, financing, and distributing premium content for a global audience. Black Bear releases films directly in the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland and Canada.
Founded in 2011 by Teddy Schwarzman, Black Bear is focused on the creation of original and engaging content, regardless of genre. To that end, Black Bear produces and finances original, award-winning film and television. We represent singular artists, providing guidance in all areas. We oversee the international sales, marketing and distribution of filmmaker-centric and commercially minded fare, and release films directly in the UK, Ireland and Canada.
Black Bear has offices in Santa Monica, CA and London, UK. Our sister company, Elevation Pictures, is based in Toronto, ON.
