Plot Summary

The movie begins with Sandy Cheeks walking out of her treedome and rides her mechanical horse Sparky, collecting data on the residents of Bikini Bottom, whilst singing a song.SpongeBob tries practicing his jellyfishing skills to Sandy, before a gigantic claw comes and picks up Bikini Bottom and takes it out of the water. This makes everybody panic. SpongeBob is sad to be losing Gary and Sparkys rear end is also onboard. Sandy gets out her goggles and zooms in to the claw, to read B.O.O.T.S. Marine Biology Lab, located in Galveston, Texas. Sandy used to work there and tries to comprehend what is going on and she tries to call her friends, Phoebe and Kyle, but an advert comes up instead for Gushing Waters water park and it is revealed that Sue Nahmee founded the Water Park, before the call becomes terminated.SpongeBob cries, but Sandy announces she is going to take him to Texas and get Bikini Bottom back. Sandy calculates a plan, before they ride clam shells on a volcanic vent out of the water and up to the 10:35 Texas Airlines Flight, towards Houston, leaving Sparky behind. 14 hours later and Sandy and SpongeBob fly over Galveston, before Sandy kicks SpongeBob off the wing and he falls towards land, before Sandy catches him and glides, revealing herself as a flying squirrel, SpongeBob on her back. Sandy goes to land in the water park, but get caught in a tornado and they crash land, with SpongeBob landing on a cactus. SpongeBob becomes dehydrated and Sandy gives him water from another cactus. Sandy reads a license plate and it is revealed that they are 626 miles away from their final destination. They begin walking.Meanwhile, at the lab, everybody inside the Krusty Krab begins to panic and Mr Krabs volunteers Squidward to go and check what is going on, to which he refuses. Mr Krabs goes out himself and gets scared by Gary and Patrick, before he runs into glass and spots a woman's face peering in on him, frightening him back to the Krusty Krab. Phoebe and Kyle use the computer and it is revealed that SpongeBob and Sandy are missing. Sue walks in, carrying her pet dog Cuda, feeds her pet fish and demands Phoebe and Kyle tell her who is missing.Back in the Texan desert, Sandy and SpongeBob encounter a group of Stetson wearing rattlesnakes, who try eating them, before Sandy puts on her karate gear and fights them off, before getting bitten on the foot and puffs up like a balloon. Seeing that SpongeBob is in danger, Sandy whistles and an RV, full of Sandys relatives comes rushing to the rescue. It is revealed that they are a family circus. They take the snakes down, and remove their skin. Sandys mother deflates Sandy back to her normal size and they take SpongeBob and Sandy with them. Sandy announces to her family that Bikini Bottom is missing and they all agree to help her get Bikini Bottom back.Back at the lab, Sue picks up the glass dome and begins shaking it, before she shows Phoebe and Kyle a video of her true ambition, sea pals. Sue plans to genetically modify the fish into air breathers in 3 phases, feeding them genetic modification paste, placing them into the patented gene machine, altering their DNA and finally cloning them, before selling them to children and Sue demands they find SpongeBob.Back on the road, SpongeBob hangs out with Sandys brother Randy and he helps Randy fix the RVs engine. Just as morning rises, Sandy looks at posters of her family and their special acts, before helping fire up the grill for breakfast. Ma Cheeks claims that she planned to pass down the circus to Sandy. Sandy does tell her mother that she always wanted to do science over her water skiing circus act. The family then eat Hickory Nut-crusted apple steaks with roasted pecans and walnut milk. Ma tells Sandy she can do whatever she wants as long as it's in Texas, before SpongeBob carries in a raccoon, before Pa tosses it out.Inside the dome, Plankton tells Karen that he plans to clone himself into an unstoppable army and rule the world. The residents all go outside for free Genetic Modification Paste and Phoebe and Kyle pick Squidward, Mr Krabs and Patrick to place them into the gene machine and once they are finished, Squidward begins to sing a song about being able to breathe air, before Sue traps him in a glass and demands they bring in the focus group. 2 kids come running in and begin torturing the trio, before Sue tells Kyle to pay them and return them to their parents.SpongeBob asks Randy to teach him how to do the Cheeks family whistle. Unfortunately, they are chased down by the police and Randy refuses to pull over, before revealing that he has stashed stolen nuts in the back of the RV. Sandy tells Randy to get her to Galveston, before Randy begins driving in a high speed chase and gets caught in the same twister as before. The police continue on their chase and Sandy performs a trick with a lasso that her grandfather had taught her, grabbing hold of the tornado and landing them back on land and 8 miles from Galveston. Eventually, the only hope she and SpongeBob have of making it to Galveston is to launch them out of a cannon without parachutes, but Sandy uses her gliding and water skiing skills to end up at the water park just outside the lab.Sandy scans around, searching for the lab, while SpongeBob tickles all the humans feet. Unfortunately, Cuda finds them and begins chasing them up a water slide. Once at the top, Sandy spots B.O.O.T.S. Laboratory and glides to safety, as Cuda follows them on a hand glider. Sandy and SpongeBob try to escape through a drain, but Cuda finds them. Fortunately, the two protagonists escape and end up in a sink in the lab. SpongeBob becomes excited to see Bikini Bottom and rushes over to see Gary and Patrick, but get caught by Phoebe and Kyle and Sandy tries fighting Sue, but she places her inside a cage. Sandy questions why Phoebe and Kyle would turn to the evil side of science and Kyle reveals that it is because Sue got them an empty vending machine and if they are good, she may fill it.They place SpongeBob on a mini roller coaster, heading to the cloning machine and Sue says that the original would cease to exist. Sue then proceeds to tell her a story of when she was little and wanted to cuddle or sleep with them, but they kept dying when out of the water. She used her family's wealth to travel the world, swimming with fish. Sue then says that she lost her body to a Piranha in Peru. Sue then rips off her lab coat and reveals she is now a robot. She thanks Sandy for spying on the Bikini Bottom residents and helping her find them. Sandy begins to lose hope and cry, before she just goes and walks on the hamster wheel.Sue places SpongeBob in the cloning machine and he turns into loads of little SpongeBobs, before all of the little SpongeBobs spill out of the machine. One of the SpongeBobs tells Sandy not to give up hope on saving Bikini Bottom. Sandy realizes that the Bikini Bottom residents are her second family.Phoebe and Kyle give up on helping Sue with her plan and send Sandy in the hamster wheel towards Sue, knocking her over. Sandy messes with Sues functionality, making her dance. Sandy then kicks Sue and she falls into the glass dome, which knocks her head off and it flies right into her pet fish's mouth, which overjoys her and is happy to finally be a fish. It is revealed that merging the mini SpongeBobs together will eventually bring him back to his regular size. The glass dome rolls, hits the wall and begins to crack.Sandy and SpongeBob plan to use the rolling thunder ball move to help get Bikini Bottom back into the ocean. Sandy attempts to whistle for her family to help, but she unfortunately lost her tooth in the battle with Sue, so SpongeBob who had mastered the whistle, calls on her behalf. The family ride the twister and parachute in to help her. The Cheeks family are too weak to move the dome by themselves, so Sandy gets the Cheeks, the Bikini Bottom residents and Phoebe and Kyle to help her put together an electric charge in the glass dome and they run, riding the electric current out of Texas, through space and lands Bikini Bottom back in its rightful place in the ocean and Sparkys backside back on Sparky.Many days later, the Krusty Krab is turned into a circus tent, where the cheeks family perform their skills. Mr Krabs sells Texas style Krabby Patties, to which Kyle, who is in attendance with Phoebe and Cuda buys, but cannot eat. The film ends with Sandy riding Sparky and sings about having two sets of families and two homes, in Bikini Bottom and in Texas, as well as her doing good. Sue is also there as a fish.

Storyline

Bikini Bottom has been stolen. Sandy Cheeks and SpongeBob watch in disbelief as everyone's favorite town is scooped out of the ocean by a sinister, mysterious company. Now, Sandy and SpongeBob must go on an epic quest to Sandy's home state of Texas and enlist her family to help save Patrick, Squidward, Mr. Krabs and the rest of the gang before time runs out.
