Tonatiuh (birthname: Tonatiuh Elizarraz) is a rising actor in features and television (best known for his recurring role in the ABC series, Promised Land (2022)) and whose feature film debut was in director/writer Stephen Kijak’s indie comedy-drama featuring music by The Smiths, Shoplifters of the World (2021), with Helena Howard, Ellar Coltrane, Elena Kampouris, Nick Krause, Thomas Lennon and Joe Manganiello, and which was released by RLJE Films.
Tonatiuh’s acclaimed breakthrough role was as Luis Molina/Kendall Nesbitt in director/writer Bill Condon’s English-language film version of Kiss of the Spider Woman (2025), co-starring Jennifer Lopez and Diego Luna, and released widely by Lionsgate/Roadside Attractions/LD Entertainment.
Tonatiuh starred in director/writer/producer Jon Shaivitz’s Los Angeles-set drama, Roses on the Vine (2025), co-starring Cameron Cowperthwaite, with Sal Lopez, Mike Manning, and Sascha Knopf, and produced by JS Films and John Funk Productions.
Tonatiuh was born in Los Angeles and raised in the Los Angeles suburbs of Boyle Heights and West Covina by his Mexico-born parents, including his mother, who was a hairdresser in a beauty salon. Tonatiuh has an older brother. Tonatiuh attended and graduated from West Covina High School in 2011. Tonatiuh then graduated from the University of Southern California, studying at both the School of Dramatic Arts and the School of Cinematic Arts.
