Synnøve Macody Lund boasts one of the most unusual and eclectic profiles in international cinema. The Norwegian-born Lund has been a model, a journalist, a film critic, a novelist, and a film and TV actor. After starting as a fashion model, Lund shifted into journalism, and then as chief film critic for the Norwegian arts and culture journal, NATT&DAG.
Leading Norwegian director Morten Tyldum cast Lund for her feature debut opposite Aksel Hennie and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in Headhunters (2011), based on Jo Nesbø’s novel and becoming the highest-grossing title in Norwegian film history, earning $15.3 million.
Lund portrayed Queen Viktoria in the Mikkel Brænne Sandemose-directed fantasy adventure, The Ash Lad: In the Hall of the Mountain King (2017), which became Norway’s second-highest-grossing movie in 2017. Synnøve Macody Lund landed a plum supporting role in her first Hollywood-produced movie, the sequel, director-writer Fede Álvarez’s sequel and reboot, The Girl in the Spider’s Web (2018), starring Claire Foy, Sverrir Gudnason, LaKeith Stanfield, Sylvia Hoeks, and Stephen Merchant, but disappointing with a poor box-office return for MGM and Columbia Pictures/Sony Pictures Releasing.
Lund’s next Hollywood appearance was a major supporting role in director-editor Kevin Greutert’s Saw X (2023), the tenth entry in the Saw series, co-starring Tobin Bell, Shawnee Smith, and Steven Brand, and released via Lionsgate.
Synnøve Macody Lund was born and raised in Stord, in Norway’s Vestland region, by her parents.

How to Become a Movie Actor: As Lund’s co-star, Aksel Hennie, describes it, Lund was cast in her debut movie, Headhunters, by director Morten Tyldum, because he saw her face and liked her film reviews in the cultural journal, NATT&DAG.
