Mark Fischbach (birthname: Mark Edward Fischbach), widely known in the online and YouTube community by the moniker Markiplier (a portmanteau of “Mark” and “multiplier” since he played all of the characters in his comedy sketches and games), is one of the highest-earning YouTube creators and one of the few to break into feature filmmaking. Fischbach went from launching his first YouTube channel in 2012 to becoming an online celebrity by 2015, ranking sixth in a list of the twenty most influential celebrities among U.S. teenagers and signing a year later as an online creator with William Morris Endeavor.
Fischbach proceeded to create both interactive gaming videos as well as character voice roles, and then, after leaving WMA and signing with United Talent Agency in 2023, he began self-financing his feature filmmaking debut as director/writer/producer/editor of the horror/sci-fi, Iron Lung (2026), adapted from David Szymanski’s horror videogame of the same title, co-starring Caroline Rose Kaplan, Sean McLoughlin, Szymanski and Troy Baker, and self-released by Fischbach in a wide pattern in the U.S., U.K., Australia and New Zealand.
Mark Fischbach was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and raised in Cincinnati by his parents, German-American-born Clifton (military officer) and Korean-born Sunok, who divorced when Fischbach was a young boy. Clifton died when Fischbach was nineteen years old. Fischbach has one brother, Thomas. Fischbach attended and graduated from Milford High School. Fischbach majored in biomedical engineering at the University of Cincinnati, and then dropped out two semesters short of graduating to pursue his career as an online YouTube game creator. Fischbach has been married to producer/graphic artist Amy Nelson since 2025. Fischbach’s height is 5’ 10”. Fischbach’s estimated net worth is $45 million.
