Kristoffer Borgli is a Norwegian filmmaker who directed and wrote several shorts---including Whateverest (2012), Internet Famous (2014), A Place We Call Reality (2018), The Loser (2019), It’s Not a Phase (2019), Former Cult Member Hears Music for the First Time (2020), Softcore (2020), The Altruist (2020), Eer (2021) and Willem Dafoe (2024)— and shot music videos while also making his feature premiere with the fiction film with non-fiction elements, DRIB (2017), with Amir Asgharnejad, Brett Gelman and Adam Pearson, and premiering at the South by Southwest Film Festival. Borgli was director/writer/editor of the black comedy, Sick of Myself (2022), starring Kristine Kujath Thorp, Eirik Saether, Fanny Vaager and Henrik Mestad, launching in the Un Certain Regard section of the Official Selection of the Cannes Film Festival before a release by Utopia (U.S.)/Scandinavian Film Distribution (Norway) for a $1.1 million gross.
Borgli made his American filmmaking career as director/writer/editor of the surrealist comedy-drama, Dream Scenario (2023), starring Nicolas Cage (who was also a producer), Julianne Nicholson, Michael Cera, Tim Meadows, Dylan Gelula, and Dylan Baker, produced and released by A24 to a $12.4. million gross after premiering at the Toronto Film Festival. Borgli was director/writer/editor of his second movie, produced by Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen and released by A24, The Drama (2026), starring Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Mamoudou Athie, Alana Haim, Hailey Gates, Zoe Winters, and Anna Baryshnikov, and which was produced by Square Peg.
