JP Sans (birthname: Juan Pablo Sans) made his animation feature directorial debut with the DreamWorks Animation Studios sequel, The Bad Guys 2 (2025), which he co-conceived with director Pierre Perifel, and which co-starred the voice cast (reunited from the 2022 original) of Sam Rockwell, Marc Maron, Awkwafina, Craig Robinson, Anthony Ramos, Richard Ayoade, Zazie Beetz, Alex Borstein and Lilly Singh, with new voice actors Danielle Brooks, Maria Bakalova and Natasha Lyonne as an all-woman criminal squad, and released wide by Universal Pictures.
Sans broke into feature animation production via Blue Sky Studios as animator or supervising animator on Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009), Rio (2011), Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012), and then Sans jumped over to DreamWorks Animation for Rise of the Guardians (2012)—taking a break from features to make his own award-winning animated short, Bilby (2018)—and following with Trolls World Tour (2020), The Bad Guys (2022), Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022) and Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken (2023).
JP Sans was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, by his parents. Sans’ family moved to Miami, Florida, when he was ten years old. JP Sans graduated from Miami International University of Art and Design, where he majored in animation.

Giving Credit: JP Sans’ mother instructed him at age seven to understand the screen credits running after a movie they had watched in order to realize how many jobs there were in moviemaking, and which he says started his dream of making animated films.
