Ian Hanlin (birthname: Ian Stuart Hanlin) is a Canadian-born voice actor who began his voice performance career in 2010 and debuted in a supporting role in a theatrical animated feature release with writers/producers Seth Rogen’s and Evan Goldberg’s raucous Sausage Party (2016), co-starring the voices of Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, James Franco, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd, Nick Kroll, David Krumholtz, Edward Norton and Salma Hayek under Conrad Vernon’s and Greg Tiernan’s co-direction, grossing a highly profitable $141.3 million (on $19 million costs) for producers Columbia Pictures/Annapurna Pictures/Point Grey Pictures and distributor Sony Pictures Releasing.
Hanlin had his first co-lead role in an animated feature with director/writer Caleb Hystad’s Canadian-produced family tale, Valley of the Lanterns (2018), with the voices of Samantha Ferris, Jonathan Love, and Nicole Oliver. Hanlin landed a supporting voice role in Canadian director/writer animator Adam Wood’s action comedy, Henchman (2018), with the voices of Thomas Middleditch, James Marsden, Rosario Dawson, Alfred Molina, Rob Riggle, Jane Krakowski, Craig Robinson, and Bobcat Goldthwait, and released by Entertainment One/Vertical Entertainment.
Hanlin performed the voice of Jesus in the New Testament-based Light of the World (2025), with Benjamin Jacobson as the voice of John the Apostle under the co-direction of Tom Bancroft and John J. Schafer, and produced and released by Salvation Poem Project. Hanlin joined the voice cast of another animated Canadian feature, director/writer/producer Mike Jackson’s sci-fi comedy, Time Helmet (date to be announced), with Peter New, Lou Ticzon, Camryn Macdonald, and Paula Burrows, and produced by Steam Powered Films.
Ian Hanlin was born and raised in Cole Harbour, Canada, by his parents. Hanlin has been in a relationship with fellow Canadian voice actor Caitlyn Bairstow since 2017; the couple lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
