Adria Arjona (birthname: Adria Arjona Torres) is quietly rising as a potential Latina movie star in an era when roles for Latina actors are expanding and diversifying, reflected in her significant supporting role in Marvel’s Morbius (2022) and the Star Wars franchise streaming series, Andor (2022). A graduate of the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, Arjona broke into acting with guest roles in significant TV series such as Person of Interest (2014-2015), True Detective (2015), and Narcos (2015).
Following her debut in an English-language feature, The Belko Experiment (2016), Adria Arjona has been cast in increasingly more prominent roles in franchises (Pacific Rim: Uprising (2018)) and opposite major stars (Ben Affleck in Triple Frontier (2019), Ryan Reynolds in 6 Underground (2019), Jason Momoa in Sweet Girl (2021), and Andy Garcia in Father of the Bride (2022)).
Indeed, 2022 marks a breakthrough year for Arjona, who co-stars opposite Jared Leto in the Marvel Comic Universe feature Morbius; the Cuban-American remake of the classic Father of the Bride with Andy Garcia; her entry into the Star Wars universe with Andor with Diego Luna; and co-star status in Olivier Assayas’s highly anticipated streaming series remake of his feature, Irma Vep, in which Arjona plays opposite Alicia Vikander.
Adria Arjona is the daughter of Leslie and Ricardo Arjona, a prominent Guatemalan-born singer and songwriter.
