The Elks Theatre & Performing Arts Center in Prescott, Arizona, is a beautifully restored historic landmark and vibrant cultural hub. Originally completed in 1905 as one of many “Elks’ Opera Houses” nationwide, it is now the last of its kind still in operation and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Over the decades, the theater has transitioned from hosting minstrel shows and stage performances to showing silent films and “talkies,” before ceasing movie operations in the 1980s. Following a major restoration completed in 2010, and a further expansion ending in 2016, the facility now boasts state-of-the-art dance studios, music rehearsal booths, banquet halls, and a full chef’s kitchen, while preserving original architectural elements like tin-stamped barrel ceilings and stained glass. Managed by the nonprofit ETPAC, its mission is to support and enrich the performing arts community by providing accessible space for rehearsals, education, and entertainment. Today, the Elks continues to offer free movie nights, live performances, community rentals, and educational outreach, serving as a cherished cultural institution in downtown Prescott.
