Toshio Furukawa has compiled over forty years as one of the most in-demand and reliable voice actors in Japanese animation. His impressive roster of credits in film, television, and video games since 1975 amounts to a number over 260. Furukawa has voiced various characters (particularly the popular character, Piccolo) in the long-running Dragon Ball movie and TV franchises, from Dragon Ball: Mystical Adventure (1988) to director Tetsuro Kodama’s debut feature, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero (2022), with Masako Nozawa.
Known for his ability (despite his age) to voice young boys, Furukawa has performed in several anime franchises across four decades, including Dr. Slump and Arale-chan (1981-1985), Mobile Suit Gundam (1981-1982, 2005-2006, 2022), Urusei Yatsura (1983-1988, 1991), Saint Seiya (1988-1989), Mobile Police Patlabor (1989, 1993, 2002), Akuma-Kun (1989-1990), GeGeGe no Kitaro (1996, 2008), and Detective Conan (2009, 2012). Fist of the North Star, and One Piece, as well as regular characters in Gosenzo-Sama Banbanzai! And Future Robo Daltanius.
Toshio Furukawa was born and raised in the northern Japan community of Ohira, in the Tochigi Prefecture. Furukawa is married to voice actor Shino Kakinuma. His height is 5’ 5”.
