J.D. Dillard is a director specializing in horror and action movies, starting with the Blumhouse-produced Sleight (2016), on which Dillard was co-writer-director (with co-writer Alex Theurer) with a cast led by Jacob Latimore, Seychelle Gabriel, and Dulé Hill, and grossing a healthy $4 million on a $250,000 budget, after a world premiere at the Sundance film festival.
Dillard again partnered with co-writer and co-producer Theurer (and writer/co-producer Alex Hyner) for the sea-monster horror film premiering at Sundance, Sweetheart (2019), which Dillard directed and produced with Jason Blum’s Blumhouse, and starring Kiersey Clemons, Emory Cohen, and Hanna Mangan-Lawrence.

J.D. Dillard was born and raised in the United States by parents Geri and Bruce Dillard, who served as a flight officer in the U.S. Navy and was the second Black pilot chosen for membership in the renowned military aerial unit, the Blue Angels. Dillard’s height is 5’ 11”.
