The Paris Theater is a single-screen art house movie theater located in Manhattan, New York City. The theater’s design is a distinctive Arte Moderne style. The Paris is known for showcasing art and foreign films in their original languages. It is the longest-running arthouse cinema in New York City, having opened its doors in 1948. It is also Manhattan’s only remaining single-screen cinema and the borough’s largest movie theater, with 571 seats. Shortly after the theatre closed in 2019, Netflix stepped in to take over operations and renovate the facility to its current and former glory.
