The Music Box Theatre in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood is a historic, independently-run cinema known for its unique “atmospheric” design that resembles a Mediterranean courtyard, complete with a starry, cloud-filled ceiling. Since 1929, it has been a beloved venue where the community can gather to enjoy a selection of independent, foreign and classic films. It is renowned for its innovative film programming, including 70mm screenings, an occasional singalong and host to several annual film festivals. The Music Box’s giant neon marquee serves as a beacon to cinephiles.
Its sister company Music Box Films acts as a distributor for independent movies.
