The Colonial Theatre is a cinema and arts center located in Belfast, Maine. It is a community-run model that celebrates cinema by-and-for the Greater Belfast Community. The theatre showcases the best in Hollywood, independent, and foreign films in a fully digital and modernized downtown theatre. It is also the scene of many live, public and private events from music, performances, fund raisers, community celebrations, and more. The theatre is open year-round in the heart of vibrant downtown Belfast. The Colonial Theatre was closed in September 2023 after operating for more than 100 years when owners Mike Hurley and Therese Bagnardi retired. However, it has been reopened by a not-for-profit group that assumed operation of the theatre in fall 2023. The theatre now operates on a five-day-per-week schedule from Wednesday to Sunday.
